Video editing has changed incredibly in the last fifteen years. Along with faster and more powerful computers, the capabilities of the video studio have risen while the cost has dropped dramatically. Sight & Sound Services was among the first to embrace "non-linear" computer based video editing. More than ten years ago we moved into the digital editing realm. As you may imagine, the technology has changed a bit in that time, and we have kept up!

Our current editing system is the Newtek VT 5. It may be a funny name, but the original Video Toaster changed the world of "desktop video editing" nearly a decade ago. This updated version is doing it again! With this system we do not "compress" your video to edit it. What does that mean to you? Well, most computer based editing systems have to compress the video signal to make it fit into the computer. Compression causes picture degradation. No compression means a better final product.

This powerful editing system also allows for unlimited video layers, 20 tracks of stereo audio (more if necessary), excellent graphics including 2D and 3D animations. What does this all mean? That your video can have a high paced, graphically rich look to match anything that you might see on TV!

The right tools for the right job are a necessity.  We also use Avid Xpress Pro for a lot of our projects.  Avid and VT both have strengths and weaknesses so we pick the right tool for the job.

We can work with many different tape formats too. It is not uncommon for one of our products to combine Betacam, DVCam, VHS and 3/4" all into one video.

When completed we can output your finished production to tape, or the more common output medium, DVD.  We use Adobe Encore for DVD authoring and can include such features as closed captioning and subtitles.  Check our DVD Duplication page for information on duplication.

Please contact us if you have any questions about our editing services.
