Sight & Sound Services has always had a reputation for value. Part of that has been based on the quality of our productions. We have strived to find the right mix of equipment with high quality, but at a value level that lets us charge a lot less than the big studios. Face it, lower overhead means lower prices. With advancements in technology we have been able to put together a suite of equipment with amazing capabilities. Since we are not tied into one particular technology, we have been able to move to new systems when they have become available to stay on the cutting edge of digital video technology.

Flexibility is the key to our systems. We can combine footage brought to us in many different tape formats, we can output to many formats also, including CD, DVD and web!

If any of our in house equipment does not meet your needs we will happily track down whatever it is you require!

Cameras

• Sony DSR300 DVCam.
• Canon XL1 MiniDV

Both of these cameras offer exceptional picture quality through the use of the latest DV technology. The DSR300 is our main camera, but we use the much smaller XL1 in special circumstances. The XL1 is also available to rent.

Also available now is the Easyrig, a device that allows a camera operator to have the weight of the camera moved from one shoulder to his hips. This allows for reduced fatigue and better shots on all day hand held shoots.

Editing Equipment

• Umatic 3/4" feeder/recorder
• Hi8 feeder/recorder

With the capability of supporting this many tape formats in house, it is unlikely that you will need anything else. We can happily provide Digital Betacam and other formats as needed.

Nonlinear video editors

We use the Newtek VT 5 for nearly all of our editing projects. It combines excellent capabilities with non compressed video capture. This means that your video quality will remain undamaged through the editing process. All video is captured in component (except formats that don't support that) to maximize quality. Currently the system has space for approximately 2 hours of uncompressed video with 142 GB of hard drive storage. The system is also equipped with a professional sound card that allows balanced audio input for the cleanest sound possible. Balanced audio is used where ever possible to maintain audio quality.

Also available is Avid Xpress Pro.  Based on the needs of your project we have an editing solution that will fit the need.
